It's safe to say it has been a love-hate relationship between Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni and the fan base, but the city of Brotherly Love indeed has shown their love for their coach. The media has given Sirianni his well-deserved flowers as well this offseason.
CBS Sports writer Cody Benjamin ranked all 32 of the NFL head coaches. Sirianni finished fourth after being 15th last year. The change in narrative on Sirianni from 2023 to 2024 played a significant role, also fostering a culture of winning within the locker room.
"His brash antics to close a pitiful 2023 collapse were enough to have Eagles fans reasonably pondering whether he'd totally failed an all-star assembly. Then he put his head down and became the behind-the-scenes glue for a remarkable rebound with a historically dominant finish. Maybe he's boosted by Howie Roseman collecting premium talent across the board. But you don't shepherd two Super Bowl appearances in three years by accident. He embodies the Philadelphia spirit with his passion."
From the moment Sirianni walked through the doors of the Eagles' facility back in 2021, the path to last year's Super Bowl was a wild one. Fans had their doubts about him after starting his first season as the head coach at 2-5 before turning the season around to go 9-8 and make the postseason.
After that 2021 season, Sirianni led the Eagles to the Super Bowl, but lost to the Kansas City Chiefs. 2023 is one that should be erased from Eagles fans' minds with the team losing six of their last seven games after a 10-1 start to the season.
Entering 2024, Sirianni was on the hot seat as he had to change out both his coordinators and get the team back on track. The 2-2 start to the year and him trash talking Eagles fans did not help. After the bye week, the team only lost one more game as they dominated their way to a Super Bowl title in February.
Sirianni is 48-20 as the head coach of the Eagles in the regular season with a 6-3 record in the postseason. He has the second-most wins for a new head coach in his first four seasons in NFL history behind former San Francisco 49ers head coach George Seifert.
Many people have their personal feelings for Sirianni, but his team has always been a winner. Nothing appears to be different with this team entering the 2025 season, as Sirianni has them focused on repeating as champions.
