It was a weird but welcome sight at Dallas Cowboys practice. During the second week of team OTAs, quarterback Dak Prescott threw a deep pass to CeeDee Lamb, which the receiver was unable to hold on to.
As a result of the drop, Lamb did what many starting wide receivers in all levels of football do in that situation. He dropped to do some pushups. A classic self-imposed punishment to hopefully, correct a mistake.
But something out of the ordinary happened as well: George Pickens was right there doing pushups as well.
According to ESPN's Todd Archer, "CeeDee Lamb was unable to come up with a deep Dak Prescott pass and later dropped to do some pushups. George Pickens did the pushups right alongside Lamb."
Cowboys OTA observations from Thursday …

** CeeDee Lamb was unable to come up with a deep Dak Prescott pass and later dropped to do some pushups. George Pickens did the pushups right alongside Lamb. First time I saw that.
The Cowboys insider added that's the first time he saw that in a team practice and for good reason. Usually, it's something done by just the player responsible for the error. Not this time.
While it's just a small moment from practice, it reflects the "co-one" message Pickens and Lamb have been sending since the former arrived via trade earlier this month.
"Oh no, we both ones," Lamb told All City DLLS last week. "It ain't no A/B, none of that, it's one, you look over there you see one, you look over here, you see another one. So do what you gotta do with that."
Trading for Pickens is one of the most aggressive moves the Cowboys front office has made in years and whether it's successful or not will largely be defined by the young receiver's attitude. Actions like Thursday's suggest he's buying into the culture new head coach Brian Schottenheimer wants in the building.
Now granted, it's a long, long season and things are only beginning for the Cowboys-Pickens marriage. It will be crucial for things to stay on track moving forward.
