CeeDee Lamb just got run over by NFL official on the sideline during Cowboys' preseason opener, and it was completely unnecessary

Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer didn't play most of his starters on Saturday's preseason opener in an attempt to keep them from being hit. But that didn't help wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, who still took a shot to the back on the field.

During the second quarter of the game, Lamb was standing on the sideline in the path where the sideline official runs up and down the field following the action of the play. After Joe Milton threw a deep pass to WR Jonathan Mingo, Lamb was on the way of the official, who collided with him and sent the Cowboys WR to the ground.

Lamb was called for a personal foul on the play, cutting the Cowboys' yardage gain after a defensive pass interference from the Los Angeles Rams.

Fortunately, per the broadcast, Lamb didn't suffer an injury and the Cowboys' sideline was laughing at the incident. It's fair to say Lamb avoided a worst case scenario because that official was running at full speed. Talk about an unnecessary risk but of course, it was only an honest mistake from the receiver. There's not much else the official could've done as his eyes need to be on the play.

It's only the preseason and the team is honing the details of winning football. We just didn't expect that to include sideline protocol and etiquette.
