CeeDee Lamb ties Cowboys legend Michael Irvin with career-high performance vs Eagles

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb hit an important milestone this week with his performance in the team’s loss against the Philadelphia Eagles. Lamb, who posted 11 receptions for a career-high 191 yards on Sunday, has now tied Cowboys legend Michael Irvin with the most 10-catch, 150-yard receiving games in their careers.

Both No. 88s have three such games in the record books and with a long career still ahead of him, it’s likely the former Oklahoma star surpasses Irvin before it’s all said and done. Irvin, who played 10 seasons for the Cowboys and won three Super Bowl rings, finished his career with 750 receptions, 11,904 yards, and 65 touchdowns, all of which are current franchise records.

Lamb, in his fourth season with Dallas, has 332 catches, 4,426 receiving yards and 24 touchdowns. This year through eight games, he ranks fourth in the league in receiving yards per game (103), trailing only Tyreek Hill, A.J. Brown and Justin Jefferson. He’s posted games of over 100 yards four times so far this season.

On Sunday, the Cowboys take on the New York Giants for the second time this year, this time at home. In his last outing against the Giants, Lamb had just four catches but gained 77 yards in the 40-0 win.

Lamb shines following frustration earlier in season

Four weeks ago, the former Sooner aired out his frustrations with his usage. Since then, the issue has either self-corrected or been directly addressed. Lamb said he believes that the Cowboys drafted him in the first round for a reason. And it wasn’t to get four or five targets a game.

“I have to make it clear, I’m not stingy,” Lamb said after Week 6. “I’m here to help. I don’t necessarily think you take anyone in the first round and not have them help the team. That’s point-blank period. Just let me do what I can do to provide for this team. I know all my brothers in the locker room know I got their back. And I say that confidently.”

Lamb also advocated for his fellow receivers to get the ball more, which will, in turn, open up the run game for Tony Pollard and the other running backs.

As he continues contract negotiations with his agents and the Cowboys front office, it’s as important as ever for the wideout to show his worth on the stat sheet.
