CeeDee Lamb’s injury recovery timeline is revealed

The Dallas Cowboys are getting a mixed bag of news this week on star receiver CeeDee Lamb.

Lamb suffered a high-ankle sprain during Sunday’s loss to the Chicago Bears, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network revealed on Monday. The talented wideout is reportedly set to miss at least the next two games and will be considered week-to-week after that.

However, Rapoport adds that the Cowboys do not intend to place Lamb on injured reserve. As a result, that would give Lamb a chance to return before the four-week mark.

The three-time All-Pro Lamb hurt his left ankle in the first quarter at Soldier Field in Chicago, Ill. when Bears linebacker Noah Sewell rolled up on Lamb’s leg while trying to tackle him on a handoff (see the video here). The injury also led to Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer being sharply criticized (with Dallas eventually losing by a lopsided 31-14 final score).

On the bright side for the Cowboys however, it appears that Lamb is looking at a potential return within the next three-to-four weeks. Dallas does not have their bye until Week 10, so the former NFL receptions leader Lamb might be in play to return by mid-October.

With Lamb out of commission for the time being, the 1-2 Cowboys will turn to George Pickens as their new WR1 (though Pickens was extremely erratic on Sunday after Lamb went down). The team also has several other capable pass-catchers in wideouts Jalen Tolbert and Kavontae Turpin as well as tight end Jake Ferguson.
