The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will have a new offensive coordinator for the second straight season, as both Dave Canales and Liam Coen moved on after just one season each to become head coaches.
Last month, Coen attempted to poach a couple of Bucs assistants, but the team blocked the moves.
Now, those two assistants now have new positions at One Bucs Place in Tampa, as former offensive line coach Kevin Carberry has been promoted to run game coordinator for 2025.
In a corresponding move, former assistant offensive line coach Brian Picucci has been promoted to offensive line coach.
Coen did get one assistant from last season to join him, as former pass game assistant John Van Dam has joined him in Jacksonville as a pass game specialist.
Van Dam's contract expired at the end of 2024, so he was free to sign wherever he wanted.
Carberry and Picucci both joined Tampa Bay in 2024. Carberry has also worked for the Saints, Rams and Cowboys, while Picucci worked with Coen at Kentucky.
Van Dam worked with Coen last season but has been with the Bucs since 2019, serving as the offensive quality control coach, assistant tight ends coach, tight ends coach, and pass game assistant.
On Wednesday, the Bucs added a new defensive line coach in Charlie Strong. The 64-year-old was most recently a defensive analyst for Alabama in 2023 and has served as a head coach at Louisville, Texas and South Florida. He also spent 2021 in Jacksonville as an assistant head coach and inside linebackers coach.
Strong replaced Kacy Rodgers who left Tampa Bay to be Detroit's new defensive line coach.
The Buccaneers are on an incredible run of four straight division titles and five playoff appearances in a row, including a win over the Chiefs in 2021 in Super Bowl LV.
But they'll now have to deal with a tremendous turnover on their coaching staff for the first time since Bruce Arians left.
