Chargers' alternate uniform designs by ChatGPT will leave fans torn

After years of speculation, the LA Chargers are finally going to unveil new uniforms in 2025. The Chargers announced a set of two new uniforms on Tuesday that will officially be unveiled to the public in mid-July.

This is the first time the Chargers have changed their uniforms since 2020, where they ushered in the current uniform set. Chargers fans have been clamoring for new uniforms for a long time, particularly ones that look similar to what the team wore during the mid-2000s.

It's impossible to know exactly which direction the Chargers are going to take with these uniforms, especially since there are two new sets. The one thing we do know for certain is that the team will knock it out of the park.

With the anticipation bubbling over before next month's release, we asked our robot overloads (ChatGPT) to design the Chargers' new uniforms for us. And, well, the results are interesting.

Chargers alternate uniform design (according to ChatGPT):

All-navy:

ChatGPT

For the first uniform design, we told AI to create a new alternate for the Chargers that was all-navy and captured the essence of the navy uniforms the team wore during the mid-2000s, but with a modern twist.

That is certainly what ChatGPT spit out and quite frankly, the look here is not that bad. However, there are two aspects to this design that will instantly rule it our with many Chargers fans.

This uniform is simply too similar to the all-navy uniform the Chargers already wear. If you were unaware, the Chargers have never won a game in the all-navy uniforms, so perhaps the team doesn't want to repeat that. Additionally, this uniform design is missing the navy helmet that fans are yearning for.

All-yellow:

ChatGPT

We asked ChatGPT to go in a different direction and essentially recreate the all-navy look but with an all-yellow colorway.

The Chargers have never worn uniforms like this, although a few years back Nike did drop an "inverted" yellow jersey that fans could buy. This version of the uniform is a bit cleaner than the other version.

Some fans will love this look, some will hate it. It certainly would be unique as all-yellow uniforms are not common whatsoever in the NFL. There is one notable team that has an all-yellow colorway, though — Jim Harbaugh's Michigan Wolverines.

All-black:

ChatGPT

Look, maybe I am in the minority on this one but this uniform combination is straight fire. The all-white color combination is my favorite current look the Chargers have and it may only be bested by an all-black colorway.

There's nothing slicker on the football field than an all-black colorway, especially when there are eccentric secondary colors that pop. Powder blue and sunshine gold were made to pop off a black uniform canvas. It looks too good to ignore.

This exact rendition of the uniform isn't the best version of what an all-black colorway looks like but it does spark some inspiration on what could be. After all, the 2020 NFL Draft hats were the most popular in recent memory and they were very similar to this look.

What in the world even are these:

ChatGPT

We asked ChatGPT to be completely unique and to go wild on the last alternate uniform design and, well... it did. This looks more like a skin on Call of Duty than it does a uniform an NFL team would actually wear.

It's safe to say the Chargers' alternate uniforms won't look anything like this. There is absolutely no reason for the camo look with the dual-toned blue numbers that completley get washed out.

But hey, at least it's unique
