2021 Pro Bowl cornerback J.C. Jackson signed a five-year, $82.5 million contract with the Los Angeles Chargers in March, but missed his new team's season-opener in Week 1 as he recovers from ankle surgery. Jackson is listed as questionable heading into the Chargers' Week 2 AFC West "Thursday Night Football" showdown and is reportedly going to be a game-time decision.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport had further details on the injury Thursday morning.
JC Jackson worked out before this past Sunday's game and looked good. He hasn't practiced this week, but the #Chargers didn't really practice much, either (like all teams before a Thursday game). Simply, he'll work out today and determine if he can go. https://t.co/cpaHmsWXNQ

Jackson spent the first four seasons of his career with the New England Patriots. He posted a career-high nine interceptions and three fumble recoveries in 2020, before going for career-bests in tackles (58) and passes defended (an NFL-high 23) in 2021, while posting eight interceptions, which was second in the league behind Trevon Diggs of the Dallas Cowboys.
Barring a tie, the victor of Thursday night's game between Kansas City and Los Angeles will take the early lead in the AFC West standings.
