The Los Angeles Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs released their first official injury reports of the 2025 season on Tuesday, setting the stage for Friday night’s opener in São Paulo, Brazil.
Is Jim Harbaugh The Real Life Ted Lasso?
For the Chargers, the headline is the expected return of running back Najee Harris. After spending nearly two months sidelined by an eye injury suffered during a Fourth of July accident, Harris was listed as a full participant in practice. Head coach Jim Harbaugh confirmed that the medical staff has cleared him, and Harris downplayed any lingering concerns.
“The injury is superficial and didn’t affect my vision,” Harris said.
The 26-year-old is entering his first season with Los Angeles after four years in Pittsburgh, where he surpassed 1,000 rushing yards each season. He’ll likely share backfield duties on Friday with rookie first-round pick Omarion Hampton, who turned heads throughout camp.
Cornerback Elijah Molden was the only other Charger on the injury report, limited with a knee issue.
On the Chiefs’ side, receiver Marquise Hollywood Brown is trending in the right direction. Brown, who missed time with an ankle injury, was a full participant in practice. Head coach Andy Reid noted in his press conference that Brown “did everything” during Tuesday’s session, a sign that Patrick Mahomes will have one of his top targets available for the opener.
Kansas City’s report was lengthy but mostly positive. Linebacker Jack Cochrane (knee), cornerback Kristian Fulton (knee), offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor (knee), linebacker Drue Tranquill (back), and tight end Jared Wiley (knee) all practiced fully. Defensive lineman Omarr Norman-Lott was limited with an ankle issue.
The most concerning news for the Chiefs is rookie receiver Jalen Royals, who did not practice due to a knee injury and is unlikely to play Friday.
With Harris returning for the Chargers and Brown cleared for the Chiefs, both teams expect to have key offensive weapons available as they kick off the NFL’s first regular-season game in Brazil.
