Chargers finally confirm big change fans have wanted for years

The LA Chargers have the best uniforms in the NFL and they are about to get even better. After years of anticipation and theories from the fanbase, the Chargers officially teased a new uniform alternative in a social media post on Tuesday.

The actual look of the alternative uniform has not been revealed and will be revealed on July 15, per the teaser video.

There are wide-ranging conspiracy theories about what these alternate uniforms may look like. However, based on what the fanbase has demanded, and based on the uniforms already being used. there is one dominant favorite.

Chargers tease alternate uniforms with fans convinced that navy throwbacks are coming back

Fans have been clamoring for the Chargers to bring back the navy uniforms the team wore during its most successful run in the mid-2000s.

One particular aspect of the uniform that Chargers fans have asked for is the navy helmet. That navy helmet with the large white and gold lightning bolt has become a staple of Chargers history, and is completely unique from what the team is currently wearing.

Knowing how the Chargers operate, the team won't simply bring these uniforms back in the exact same fashion. Much like the team did with the current uniform set, there will be a modern twist on this alternate uniform set, whatever it ends up being.

However, Chargers fans can rest easy knowing the team will do it the right way. This won't be a modern version of an old favorite that looks nothing like the original source material. The Chargers have their ear to the ground better than most NFL franchises and won't unveil something that upsets fans.

It's worth noting that it's not guaranteed to be the old navy uniforms. The Chargers could go in other directions and could even unveil something completely unique. There was a small portion of the fanbase clamoring for a grey or black uniform set back in 2020, although those would be far less popular options.

It will also be interesting to see what uniform domino falls with these new alternatives. The Chargers wear their current all-navy uniforms once a year and notoriously haven't won a game while wearing them. Los Angeles has also quietly phased out the royal blue alternatives, so those could also be on their way out.

Either way, the Chargers have officially given fans something very exciting to look forward to in what is usually a slow month in July.
