The NFL schedule release is one of the most anticipated events of the league year because it signifies the return of the beloved sport.
With so much spare time on their hands, the teams’ social media administrators typically put together schedule release videos.
This year was no different as all the teams around the league put together some fun, creative, or entertaining trailer detailing all the teams they will face.
Most of them are fun and throw lighthearted jabs at their opponents, but there is one team’s schedule release video that is going viral on social media for its shocking nature.
The Los Angeles Chargers are well known for their incredibly elaborate schedule release videos and this year’s might take the cake.
Their social media team put together a Minecraft video that made subtle references towards all their opponents and it is arguably the most famous NFL release video ever.
There is a particular part of the video where the Chargers enter the “Flint and Steelers” mineshaft which is filled with a multitude of Pittsburgh Steelers easter eggs and references.
The most popular reference Los Angeles made is when there was a sign that used the numbers nine and eight which is clearly an ode to the Steelers’ perpetually middling record.
They even placed a sculpture of Aaron Rodgers in the mineshaft who Pittsburgh has been courting for months.
For the entirety of the NFL’s existence, battles and rivalries have been created on the field.
For the first time in history, there may be rivalries that stem from these schedule release videos.
