The Los Angeles Chargers have been hard at work shoring up their roster this offseason after crashing out of the playoffs in their wild card matchup with the Houston Texans. Their latest move addressed their need for help on their offensive line, which will surely make star quarterback Justin Herbert happy.

Herbert and the Chargers enjoyed a standout 2024 campaign under Jim Harbaugh's lead, posting an 11-6 record and earning a playoff spot. They got destroyed by the Texans, though, suffering a 32-12 loss. While Herbert threw four interceptions in the game, Harbaugh made it clear he doesn't want to hear any complaints about his QB.

"Completely unfair," Harbaugh said of the complaints about Herbert. "I wouldn't spend two more seconds thinking about what happened in that game. It didn't go good, and that's on me, that's my responsibility, that's my accountability. I really felt going into that tournament that we were as good as the best teams in the playoffs. Not just as good as any team, but as good as the best teams in the playoffs."

Los Angeles knows that Herbert needs some help under center, so they have focused on revamping their roster around him in free agency as a result. That continued on Tuesday, when it was announced they signed veteran offensive lineman Andre James to a contract.

"Chargers announce they’ve signed C Andre James," Daniel Popper shared in a post on X.

James spent the first six seasons of his career with the Las Vegas Raiders, becoming a key starter at center on their offensive line over the past four seasons. However, the team opted to release him last week in an effort to create some cap space.

Herbert threw for 3,870 yards and 23 touchdowns in 2024, helping him finish eighth in the MVP race. However, he will enter the 2025 campaign still in pursuit of his first career playoff win after his crushing season-ending loss to Houston.
