Justin Herbert willed the Los Angeles Chargers to victory with a late-game drive on Sunday, and head coach Jim Harbaugh was emotionally moved by his quarterback's performance.
The Miami Dolphins rallied from a two-score deficit to take a 27-26 lead on a touchdown with 46 seconds remaining in the game. The Chargers then took over at their own 41-yard line on the ensuing drive, and Herbert put together a 44-yard drive to set up a game-winning field goal.
It looked like Herbert was going to be sacked for a big loss on 2nd-and-10 from his own 41-yard line, but he was able to shake off a defender and complete a pass to Ladd McConkey. The wide receiver then broke a tackle and picked up 42 yards to set up the winning score from kicker Cameron Dicker.
When asked about that particular play, Harbaugh said it was the latest example of Herbert being "a mighty man."
"It's at a physical level only a couple guys can reach," Harbaugh said, per the Los Angeles Times. "But mentally, it's an emotionally hijacking thing to be spun around like that. To keep your wits, visualize where someone is, relocate, lock back in, and make an accurate throw. ... That's reserved for the best of the best."
Harbaugh then delivered an even more dramatic quote about Herbert's late-game heroics.
"That play will burn in my mind until they throw dirt on top of me," the coach said.

Herbert completed 29-of-38 passes for 264 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in L.A.'s win. More importantly, he helped the team avoid what would have been a disastrous meltdown after it led by 13 points in the fourth quarter. There is no bigger Herbert fan than Harbaugh. The Chargers coach has reminded us of that on multiple occasions this season.
