Chargers Injury Report: LA Makes Interesting Decision For Running Game Vs New York
USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Chargers are set to take on the New York Jets on Monday Night Football, and tensions will be high. The Bolts need a big win tonight to get back to a .500 record.

More than a winning record is the team's ability to remain a playoff contender, which will look far better if they are to beat the Jets.

The good news is that the Chargers are starting to get healthy on both sides of the ball. A staggering six questionable players have now been made active, including the return of receiver Jaley Guyton. However, despite the good news on the injury front, the Bolts are playing a dangerous game with their running back room.

In a very head-scratching move, the Chargers are heading into tonight's game with only two running backs. Austin Ekeler and Joshua Kelley are the only two on the active roster, which could be a move that comes back to haunt the team.

Ekeler has remained healthy, along with Kelley, but banking on carrying no reserves is a move that might scare some fans.

Both Elijah Dotson and Isaiah Spiller have been ruled out, but the Bolts did not choose to elevate anyone from the practice squad. That might have been to keep the room needed for their six questionable elevations.

Either way, the hope is that Ekeler and Kelley can remain on the field with no mishaps. Should either of them go down, the Chargers might be searching their wide receiver ranks to find an emergency fill-in.
