Chargers interim GM makes first significant addition

The Los Angeles Chargers have added a quarterback. It's the first notable move made by interim general manager JoJo Wooden.

The Chargers signed QB Will Grier off the New England Patriots practice squad.

Grier will now compete for the starting spot to complete the season for Los Angeles. Easton Stick's stat line last week wasn't too shabby, but the game was out of reach by halftime. Many of those numbers are empty.

It's been an odd year for Grier. He's floated back and forth from the Patriots practice squad a bit. Most recently, he was signed to the PS on November 29th. He never attempted a pass for them.

Grier is a former third-round draft pick by the Carolina Panthers in 2019 out of West Virginia. He was waived by the Panthers in August of 2021.

Since that stint, he has spent time with the Dallas Cowboys and Cincinnati Bengals before joining New England. Now, he's with the Chargers.

The Los Angeles QB room now includes Grier, Stick, and rookie Max Duggan while Justin Herbert missed the remainder of the season. It'll be interesting to see if Grier can land a depth job with the Chargers going forward.
