Chargers' Junior Colson Posts Poetic Message on Journey Back From Season-Ending Shoulder Injury

The Los Angeles Chargers have become a team to watch under coach Jim Harbaugh with a playoff appearance last season and plenty of optimism for another playoff run this season.

Harbaugh and the Chargers took care of business against Pete Carroll's Las Vegas Raiders on Monday Night Football's late game, winning 20-9 while nullifying the Raiders' top weapons behind a masterful performance from defensive coordinator Jesse Minter.

On Wednesday, one of the Chargers' top young defensive talents, former Michigan linebacker and 2024 third round pick Junior Colson, took to his X account to share a different kind of post compared to what fans are used to seeing.

Its poetic nature was placed on full display as fans began sharing messages of support for the fallen Chargers linebacker.

Colson Embracing the Process

Colson suffered a season-ending injury to his left shoulder that led to surgery in August, ending his 2025-26 season before it ever got started.

The 6-foot-3, 247 pound linebacker had 29 tackles and one pass break-up during his rookie season but won't have a chance to follow up on his promising rookie campaign until next year.

He shared a long-form poem that was viewed over 39,000 times as of Wednesday afternoon.

"Under the lights, the crowd once roared. A warrior's heart, a dream restored," the poem starts out.

"Now stitched by pain, yet strong inside, no broken step can steal his stride."

The poem continues its serious and uplifting tone throughout, culminating in powerful words about Colson's willingness to return to game action.

"This isn't the finish, it's only the bend.

"The game still calls, the fight's not done. The best is ahead, he's only begun."

Fans React to Colson's Special Message

Fans reacted with additional words of encouragement for Colson after his message.

"For anyone who may have doubts, history has proven these words prophetically in action," one person said.

"I will never forget you playing with casts on both hands during the championship run at Michigan."

"You will come back even better!" a Chargers fan page added.

"Can't wait to see you out there big dog keep working," another person said.

Chargers Await Home Game vs. Broncos, Nix

A challenging task awaits for Harbaugh's Colson-less Chargers against Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. ET with coach Sean Payton's team coming off of a devastating last-minute loss to Daniel Jones and the Indianapolis Colts.

The Chargers have the defensive recipe to make life difficult on Nix, whose first half performance overshadowed his second-half one against the Colts, in the friendly confines of SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
