Chargers lead “NFL Top 100 Players of 2022” with eight

Since 2011, the NFL Network has aired an annual Top 100 players list going into the upcoming season . These rankings come straight from the players themselves. Based on these rankings, the Los Angeles Chargers have garnered a huge amount of respect going into 2022 season. They lead the “NFL Top 100 Players of 2022” list with eight. This will be the first appearance for two of the players in RB Austin Ekeler and LT Rashawn Slater.

Below are the all the Chargers players that made the list

#79 LT- Rashawn Slater

Rashawn Slater immediately established himself as an elite player at his position. As a rookie, he was a pro bowl selection as was also named second team All Pro.

#60 C- Corey Linsley

Arguably the best Center in the league, Corey Linsley takes a lot of pressure off Justin Herbert and is one of the leaders of the team.

#46 RB- Austin Ekeler

Austin Ekeler scored 20 touchdowns from scrimmage in 2021 which tied first with Colts RB Jonathan Taylor. He also joined Hall of Fame RB LaDainian Tomlinson as the only players in Chargers history to score 20 touchdowns in a season.

#43 S- Derwin James

Derwin James is coming off an All Pro season and is currently the highest paid safety in league history. His ability to do so many different things makes him one of the most versatile players in the NFL.

#40 QB- Justin Herbert

In 2021, Justin Herbert was second in the NFL in passing yards only behind Buccaneers QB Tom Brady. He has thrown for 9,350 passing yards and 69 touchdowns in his first two seasons which is more than any other QB in NFL history.

#35 WR- Keenan Allen

Keenan Allen has always been one of the best route runners in NFL since entering the league in 2013. He seems finally get the recognition he deserves as this is the highest he has ever been ranked on an NFL Top 100 list.

#30 DE- Joey Bosa

Joey Bosa will be entering his 7th season in 2022 and is determined to ensure the Chargers are a winning team. With the addition of Khalil Mack, Bosa will face less double teams and be even more of a difference maker on an improved Chargers defense.

#20 CB- JC Jackson

JC Jackson has led the entire NFL in interceptions in 2021 with eight. Furthermore, he has led the NFL in interceptions since entering the league in 2018 with 25.

Having this many players on a top 100 list can lead to high expectations. The Chargers have not made the playoffs since 2018. They were one game away in 2021 but lost their final game to the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 18 in overtime. With his many household names on one roster, it is essential that the Chargers can clinch a playoff berth in 2022.
