Chargers make sneaky move off of waivers
USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Chargers are playing games with the rest of the league regarding stealing talent. They just picked up a sneaky good move off of the waiver wire, in which they had one of the earlier opportunities to pick someone because of their record.

They ended up claiming safety or defensive back, depending on how he will be used in Staley's system; Jaylinn Hawkins was formerly on the Atlanta Falcons but was let go.

Hawkins is actually pretty good, which is why the decision of the Falcons to let him go was so surprising. Hawkins had played in all six games for the Falcons so far this season but played just 29 defensive snaps because of new Falcons safety Jessie Bates, who is one of the best in the league.

Hawkins was in his fourth year, and his rookie contract was coming up. Now he has a new home with the Chargers.

With the Chargers placing safety Raheem Layne on injured reserve with a torn ACL, this was a crucial and sneaky good move for the team. And we all know how the season usually goes for the Chargers, as they usually see some type of injury on defense. This move to claim Hawkins off the Falcons practice squad was sneaky.
