Chargers new HC Jim Harbaugh gives EPIC reason for leaving college football just after winning the National Championship

Jim Harbaugh ‘s decision to return to the NFL as a head coach has been one of the more interesting storylines over the past weeks. After winning the National Championship with the Michigan Wolverines, Harbaugh was expected to stay with the team in hopes of pursuing yet another college football playoff run next season.

In an interview with CBS Sports, Jim Harbaugh revealed what motivated him to make a return to the NFL as the new HC of the Los Angeles Chargers.

He said:

I love Michigan, but I love the NFL too. There's no Lombardi Trophy in college football.

While college football is a competitive league and significantly different from the NFL, ultimately, the experience of winning the Super Bowl and lifting the Lombardi Trophy is one that cannot be compared to that of winning a National Championship. Besides, excelling at the NFL is a different feeling because it means you are beating the best players and the best coaches in the world.

Jim Harbaugh’s final season at Michigan was nothing short of a fairytale journey. The Wolverines went 15-0 and beat Washington to establish themselves as the best team in the country. It was the perfect ending to a season that was riddled with scandal over allegations of sign-stealing and other violations on part of the Wolverines.

His next task is a Herculean one as he will need to lead the 5-12 Chargers to a Super Bowl victory. Harbaugh is optimistic about his new role,

There's nowhere better to do it than with the Los Angeles Chargers.

He met with the stars of the team such as QB Justin Herbert, safety Derwin James, and wideout Keenan Allen.

Even though he is their coach, Harbaugh could not help but admit being “A little starstruck.” Fans in LA are already buzzing with excitement. The reason being Jim Harbaugh has a .695 winning percentage in the NFL, one of the highest amongst HCs in the league. In addition to this, he has a reputation of bringing about a cultural change in the teams he leads.

The Chargers new head of things said,

We work together, we win together, and it's worth it. The sacrifice, the pressure, all of it-why would somebody put themselves through that? Because the rewards are just so darn good.

Jim Harbaugh is set to be formally introduced as the team’s new coach on Thursday at SoFi Stadium wherein he will have his first press conference in this new role.
