Chargers' new safety Jaylinn Hawkins carted off the field at practice
USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Chargers just did something great on Wednesday. They claimed safety Jaylinn Hawkins off of the waiver wire after they had to place safety Raheem Layne on injured reserve with a torn ACL.

Hawkins is actually pretty good and was likely going to have a big role on special teams. Hawkins had played in all six games for the Falcons so far this season but played just 29 defensive snaps because of new Falcons safety Jessie Bates, who is one of the best in the league.

We don't know what the injury is yet, but there is potentially bad news on Thursday. During Hawkins' first practice as a Chargers member, he was carted off the field with an injury, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The Chargers continue to deal with injuries, as even their Week 7 injury report against the Chiefs doesn't look great.

Now, let's just hope for a good return on this injury.
