Chargers News: LA Pro Bowl OL Discusses Challenges Blocking Elite Defensive Teammates
USA TODAY Sports

Charger training camp is heating up, and the battles between teammates on both sides of the ball have been hard-fought, to say the least.

In an interview with The Athletic, Bolts' young stud offensive lineman Rashawn Slater described the nature of these individual battles going against Pro Bowl-caliber rushers on the other side of the ball

"Joey and Khalil, they’re so smart in the way they play off of O-linemen. Every training camp it’s like, if you have just one little mistake in your technique here, they’re going to find a way to exploit that. They really keep you honest. The margin for error is so small, I think it really teaches you quickly what you’re doing wrong and what you need to fix.”

Los Angeles selected Slater from Northwestern in the 2021 NFL Draft with the 13th overall pick to solidify their offensive line in front of their prized young QB Justin Herbert.

It's safe to say that the pick paid off, as Slater was named a Pro Bowler and second-team All-Pro in his rookie season.

After a bicep injury prematurely ended Slater's sophomore NFL season in week 3, the tackle is back in camp with the mentality to show the football world just how good he is.

Reps against two of the best edge rushers in the business will surely help add fuel to that fire as Mack became a Pro Bowler once more in his first season in LA after coming over from the Bears in a trade before the 2022 year.

A groin injury also shortened Bosa's 2022 season, but when healthy proved to be a key cog in the Charger defense that will hope to improve on a lackluster end to their season.

Revenge is on the mind for Slater, Bosa, and the rest of the Bolts looking toward the 2023 campaign.
