Chargers News: Rashawn Slater Causes Havoc in Return
USA TODAY Sports

Rashawn Slater is back on the field and also back to his dominant self.

The former 13th overall pick out of Northwestern dominated his rookie year, starting every game at left tackle and earning All-Pro 2nd team and his first Pro Bowl.

Unfortunately, three games into the 2022 season, Slater tore his left biceps tendon and was on the IR for the rest of the year.

Now, back from injury fully healthy, Slater is back to his dominant self, and it was on display against Miami in Week 1.

Justin Herbert is the biggest fan of Slater's return, as he does not have to worry about his blind side on any dropbacks.

In 2022, Herbert was sacked 38 times and had five games that season where he was sacked four or more times.

In the three short years Slater has played, he has only allowed five career sacks and has been one of the best pass-blocking tackles in the league.

While the Chargers did not get off the best start during their home-opening loss against the Dolphins, positives can be taken from the offense that game as they had a great dual attack on the ground and air.

Totaling 433 yards as an offense, 200 passing, and 233 rushing, the offensive line was dominant as the unit helped the runningbacks average 5.8 yards per rush.

Rashawn Slater is back, and he is now rejoining the team in an effort to win the AFC West and make a long postseason run.
