Chargers Promoting Practice Squad Player Due to Injuries

Your Los Angeles Chargers finally hit the field today for their 2023 opener against the Miami Dolphins. It should be a fun and exciting one, as kickoff is set for 1:25 p.m. PT on CBS.

However, like every other week in the NFL, there are injuries, and that's no different for your LA Chargers. I know you guys are no strangers to taking a look at the injury report, but luckily, it has nothing to do with any of the Chargers' essential players.

Chargers linebacker Chris Rumph is dealing with a hamstring issue and is doubtful for LA, which means the Bolts will be elevating edge rusher Brevin Allen from the practice squad.

Allen signed as an undrafted free agent in May and played a big part in training camp and the preseason games. He played in all three preseason games and recorded six tackles and two QB hits.

We'll see if he gets any run in today's match, but it's highly unlikely, as he will be used more for depth purposes.

As for Rumph, he will likely be out for the Week 1 matchup. He will be entering his third season in the league, all with the Chargers, and has played in 31 games and has recorded 34 combo tackles, four tackles for loss, and nine QB hits in his career.

Hopefully, the hamstring isn't too serious, and he's back on the field come Week 2.
