Chargers pull veteran player out of retirement
Mitch Stringer-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Chargers continue to add defensive depth. Their latest move is no different, and it's yet another reunion with a former Baltimore Raven.

Chargers sign veteran safety Tony Jefferson

Jefferson joins a plethora of former Baltimore Ravens in LA. That list includes GM Joe Hortiz, OC Greg Roman, RB Gus Edwards, RB J.K. Dobbins, TE Hayden Hurst, OL Bradley Bozeman, and FB Ben Mason.

"The deal comes after Jefferson tried out during LA’s minicamp and impressed. New Bolts GM Joe Hortiz was previously in Baltimore with Jefferson."

Jefferson is 32 years old. He joined the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Cardinals in 2013.

He spent nearly half a decade with the Ravens following that time in the desert. Jefferson has also spent time with the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers.

Jefferson retired in 2023 but has returned for another valuable opportunity in the league. He will compete with J.T. Woods, A.J. Finley, and Jalyn Phillips for a depth role in the Chargers secondary at safety.
