During Friday’s practice, reporters spotted Los Angeles Chargers star rookie running back Omarion Hampton at practice for the first time since he injured his ankle back on October 6th. The Athletic’s Daniel Popper reported that the first-round pick was seen doing work off to the side at practice on Friday, marking the first time Hampton has practiced since the injury in Week 5 against the Commanders.

The Chargers desperately need the star first-round pick to return, as teams are starting to shut down backup RB Kimani Vidal. Without superstar tackle Joe Alt, the offensive line is a complete disaster, making it more crucial than ever to establish the run. Hampton is a critical component of their playoff push as they head into the 2nd half of the season.
Despite the positive update, head coach Jim Harbaugh reiterated that Hampton will not be back until after the week 12 bye, but told reporters, “he does not have a crystal ball, but Hampton is progressing really well.”

Harbaugh said earlier this week that he doesn’t expect Hampton to be back until after the Week 12 bye.
Hampton’s return is exactly what LA needs to contend in a truly loaded AFC. Even though Hampton will miss the next two games against the Steelers and Jaguars, expect Hampton’s return to give the Chargers the push they need to make a run in December and January. They will take on the Steelers on Sunday at 5:20 pm PT.
