Chargers Rising OL Describes 2022 Rookie Season as 'Whirlwhind'
USA TODAY Sports

The 2022 Los Angeles Chargers ended their season on a sour note. They went into the season with high hopes but failed to reach any of their goals in a huge way.

LA suffered a ton of roadblocks along the way, including on the injury front. The Bolts suffered massive injuries to a ton of their key guys, who missed a ton of time; however, they were still able to keep their heads above water and made the postseason at 10-7.

The main reason for that is guys you didn't expect to play a big role stepping into those roles and producing for LA. One player who did just that is LA's offensive guard Jamaree Salyer.

Salyer was selected by the Chargers in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft and had a productive rookie season. He will now enter his second year in the league but reflected on his first season in the league in a local interview back home in Atlanta.

"It was a whirlwind. It just seemed like it never stopped. Going from playing at Georgia to playing in the national championship, finishing up in January, and jumping right into it, I didn't have any time off. I look back at the whirlwind of it all, and I'm very thankful for it; it's something that I'll never forget."

The 22-year-old 325-pound man replaced injured Pro Bowl lineman Rashawn Slater last season when he went down with a season-ending injury. Salyer stepped up in a huge way, playing his role and leading to LA with as many wins as possible.

As things stand, Salyer is looking like the right pick. Chargers head coach Brandon Staley spoke highly of his offensive lineman prior to this year's draft and discussed how he ended up being a Bolt.

What a story, what a guy, and we can't wait to see what else he brings to LA for years to come.
