It's probably not all that surprising that the NFL's schedule release got super popular during this era of the internet's lifespan. Team content creators have never been better, which leads to some really fun reveals, but it's really moreso just about the fact that anyone will believe anything on the internet right now. Those RTs are out there for anyone to scoop up! The dopamine hits are there for the taking.
But even a broken clock is right twice a day, which is something you'd probably do well to remember for the next 12 hours. And sometimes that broken clock predicts when now-Vikings QB JJ McCarthy will play against his old college coach Jim Harbaugh. We love a juicy narrative here. Get those calendars and red pens out – I hope you've been practicing your circling this week. And the big reveal isssssssssss [extremely long drum roll that gets super annoying after a few seconds]:
Kauai vacation break to break some NFL schedule news: the Chargers will host the Vikings on Thursday Night Football in Week 8
— alex katson (@alexkatson) May 14, 2025
Thank you to Twitter user Alex Katson for potentially breaking this news, but I cannot imagine what could possibly compel someone to take a break from their Hawaiian vacation to 1. get on twitter and 2. tweet about the NFL schedule. It's really okay to let Jordan Schultz and Adam Schefter have their day in the sun today, guys. I've never even been to Kauai and I can promise you there are 10,000 better things to be doing than worrying about what week JJ McCarthy and the Vikings play Jim Harbaugh and the Chargers on Thursday Night Football.
But at least now you know. Kinda. Maybe. At least now you have an idea of generally what month the Chargers will probably host the Vikings. And 'kind of knowing some details 90 minutes ahead of time' is the true beauty of schedule release day.
