Chargers Star Earns Spot on PFF's Top WRs List Ahead of 2025 Season

The Los Angeles Chargers let franchise legends Keenan Allen and Mike Williams both walk last offseason, but they were searching for the future of the wide receiver position long before that.

In the past couple years, the team has made multiple early round receiver selections such as Quentin Johnston who they selected in 2023 and Ladd McConkey who is heading into his second season.

The latter introduced himself to national audiences by outperforming all rookie wideouts besides New York Giants star Malik Nabers.

McConkey plays the slot, so the team is looking out help on the outside although he’s established himself as one of the brightest young stars in the league.

The Georgia Bulldogs product is hoping to build off last season where he finished as the lone bright spot in LA’s embarrassing playoff loss to the Houston Texans where he recorded 197 yards and a touchdown.

McConkey is surprisingly quick and extremely physical for such a short stature.

Pro Football Focus recently ranked the 32 best wide receivers in the NFL and the Chargers star received an interesting placement.

The company ranked him as the 22nd best receiver in the NFL which could be interpreted positively or negatively depending on who you ask.

It seems like more of a compliment because PFF does these rankings in tiers and the group that McConkey landed with is loaded with talent.

They consider him to be on a similar level as players like Devonta Smith, DK Metcalf and D.J. Moore.

Some of the players ranked above the former Georgia star are only placed there because of historical dominance.

McConkey is just entering his second season, so with the improvement he is expected to take, he could make a large jump up the list next season.

Los Angeles hasn’t done a whole bunch to bolster the receiver room this offseason, so there should still be plenty of opportunities for McConkey to assert himself as one of the best pass catchers in the league.
