Chargers Star Justin Herbert Reveals 1 Huge Goal For 2023

The Los Angeles Chargers are heading into 2023 with a lot of hope. While the 2022 season ended in disappointment, as they blew a 27-0 lead during Super Wild Card Weekend on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars, this is a team that looks ready to take that next step.

A big reason for that optimism is quarterback Justin Herbert. Herbert is going to be in Los Angeles for a very long time as he and the Chargers agreed to a record-setting extension in July. He is now under contract through 2029 and will hopefully lead the team to new heights.

The Chargers’ offense could be even more dangerous in 2023 than it was in 2022. Herbert has a new weapon in wide receiver Quentin Johnston, who the Chargers selected using their first-round pick this year.

Johnston is joining an already deep and talented group of pass catchers that the Chargers have compiled. At wide receiver, the team has Keenan Allen, Mike Williams and Josh Palmer. At tight end, there is Gerald Everett and Donald Parham Jr. Last but not least, running back Austin Ekeler is arguably the best pass-catching back in the NFL.

With an abundance of weapons at his disposal, Herbert has a clear goal heading into the 2023 season. He wants to see the Chargers take shots early and often downfield.

“One of the things is making sure we’re throwing the ball down the field and making sure we’re taking those shots,” Herbert said, per PFF, about his goals for the 2023 season.
