There is no denying that Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry is one of the most unstoppable singular forces in football today. He showed that again in Monday night's game against the Los Angeles Chargers, who fell prey to the Ravens via a 30-23 score at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood.
Henry did not score a touchdown versus the Chargers but he was still able to burn rubber for 140 rushing yards on 24 carries.
It was another impressive performance from the former Alabama Crimson Tide tailback, who's undeniably a big headache for opposing defenses. But Chargers star linebacker Khalil Mack is seemingly loving the challenge that Henry presents. The former Defensive Player of the Year even said after the Bolts' loss to Baltimore that Henry isn't "hard to play against."
“I don’t think it’s hard to play against that guy and hopefully we see this team again," Mack said of Henry, per Kris Rhim of ESPN. “The way I play I football I would love to play this team again. I would love to.”
Mack reiterated his point while also putting more emphasis on what he truly meant with his bold statement about Henry.
“It's not hard for me to play against that guy, continued Mack. " I love playing against the greats and this was no different. When I say ‘hard,’ I mean in the sense of playing against him. If I'm on the field, I know if he come to my side I got him.”
If the 2024 NFL season ended on Monday, both the Chargers and the Ravens would be bound for the playoffs. But in reality, there is still plenty of work left to do for Los Angeles and Baltimore to secure spots in the postseason.
The Chargers are sixth overall in the AFC with a 7-4 record while the Ravens are fifth with an 8-4 slate through 12 weeks of football.
