The Los Angeles Chargers returned to the playoffs in Jim Harbarugh's first year as the team's head coach.
Now, they have to build off that success and use the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft to fill holes on their roster. One of the spots they need to improve is their secondary, especially when they have to play Patrick Mahomes twice a year. In a new A to Z Sports mock draft, they do just that by adding a player that comes with significant risk.
"Shavon Revel is an absolute alien of a cornerback at 6'3" with great ball skills. In this mock, the Chargers wait on running back and get a player who was having an elite college season before tearing his ACL. New reports say he'll be ready for training camp this summer."
- New A to Z Sports mock draft
East Carolina's Shavon Revel is one of the most difficult prospects in this class to predict where he will be drafted. Ahead of the 2024 season, many around the league believed he would be one of the first defensive prospects drafted in the 2025 NFL Draft, but sadly, he didn't get the chance to build on his success in 2023, as he suffered a season-ending injury after just three games.
His tape in 2023 and the short stint in 2024 displayed arguably the best overall coverage ability in this class. But it came against lesser opponents than teams would like, and due to him tearing his ACL, he wasn't cleared to do any on-field work ahead of the draft. So, if the Chargers used their first-round pick on him, they would have to do so without getting to know his athletic profile outside of what they can watch on film. As a result, I think there's a good chance Revel ends up falling into the second round, but he would certainly give the Chargers a corner with more upside than any player in the room currently on their roster.
