The Chiefs will be back at it on Sunday, this time playing on "Sunday Night Football" in what has become an increasingly interesting matchup against the Chargers. Kansas City is at the top of the AFC, with a record of 11-1, and the Chargers, at 8-4, have been revitalized under the guidance fo coach Jim Harbaugh.
Kansas City has had some tight wins that required significant luck--the latest came on a late fumble that cost the Raiders the chance at a game-winning field goal last Friday--but still, the wins keep piling up.
As Fox Sports and Amazon Prime host Charissa Thompson said this week on her "Calm Down" podcast with Erin Andrews, "If I am Kansas City, the team or the fan base, I am like, ‘Hey, last time I checked, we’re winning.’ And that’s all that matters. Chris Jones, who we love, was like, yeah, we gotta clean up some things, we gotta do this, we gotta do that. But whatever."
That, though, led to a rather unexpected tale that Thompson had about Chiefs star defensive lineman Chris Jones, the 6-foot-6, 310-pound All-Pro who had done the postgame interview with the Prime crew. Who would have guessed that Jones is a connoisseur of ... nail polish?
"Chris Jones, I gotta say this—Erin, you have said for a while how wonderful he is," Thompson said on the podcast. "But I haven’t gotten a chance to interview him. I was supposed to have this interview with him in the offseason for NFL Films, scheduling-wise, it didn’t work out. So, of course, after he’s on the set, he’s walking out and I said, ‘Chris, I am so upset I didn’t get to do that NFL Films interview with you, you and I have to find a chance to sit down, you are a dream.’
"He grabs my hand, looks at my nail polish and says, ‘Is that Funny Bunny?’"
At that point, both Andrews and Thompson began laughing. "I gave him the biggest hug and said, ‘You are a (expletive) dream. The fact that you knew this nail polish which most men would be like, ‘Is that White-Out?’ You are a funny, funny man," Thompson said.
