Aponte had been with the University of San Diego since 2021, serving as a tight ends coach before taking over as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2023. In 2023 and 2024, Aponte’s offensive unit ranked second among PFL programs in total yards per game. During that time, fourteen of his offensive players received All-Conference honors.
Before joining the University of San Diego, Aponte spent six seasons at the University of Iowa under head coach Kirk Ferentz. In his role as an undergraduate assistant with the Hawkeyes, he concentrated on scouting and recruiting while also handling player personnel assistant duties from 2014 to 2016. During that period, he may have worked with Bears offensive coordinator Declan Doyle.
Furthermore, he gained experience as a scouting and operations intern with the Kansas City Chiefs during the summers of 2015 and 2016, during which time he likely met Ryan Poles.
Aponte is expected to be an assistant QB coach, but no official announcement has yet been made at this time.
DeVan was a first-team all-conference selection as an offensive lineman at Oregon State and then made 26 career starts in the NFL, including 21 with the Colts in 2009 and ‘10.

Aside from Oregon State and the Saints, he’s also worked for teams like Colorado, Michigan, Arizona and…
DeVan is a former player who appeared in 40 games as a center or guard over four NFL seasons. He played his last NFL snap in 2012 and transitioned to a coaching role with the Saints in 2015. At that time, Dan Roushar, the Bears' offensive line coach, served as the Saints' tight ends coach.
After his first season coaching, DeVan worked as an offensive line coach at several universities, including Ball State, Arizona, Colorado, Charlotte, and Oregon State. Most of his positions lasted one year, except for his time at Ball State (three years) and Arizona (two years).
DeVan is expected to work as an assistant offensive line coach for the Bears under Dan Roushar, but no official announcement has been made yet.
