The Chicago Bears are in an intriguing position this offseason as we march closer to the 2026 NFL Draft. The front office has been adding quality talent, specifically on the defensive side of the ball. One way they can do that is to make a splash and add one of the best defensive players of a generation. There are rumors that he may be available in a trade, so let’s discuss how Chicago is one of the top landing spots for him if he is traded away.

Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport wrote an article discussing some possible landing spots for Myles Garrett in the trade market. This is due to the Cleveland Browns reworking his contract to make it more tradable. With the rule change of being able to trade picks five years in advance that the organization is proposing, speculation continues to grow. The first team he mentions is the Bears as they were in the market for Maxx Crosby. Below is what he wrote about the difficulty of the team making this level of a deal:

“There is one major obstacle to this deal outside the enormous cost in draft capital the Browns will undoubtedly demand in a Garrett deal. Per Over the Cap, there isn’t a team that is tighter against the salary cap than the Bears. It would take more than a few financial machinations from Chicago general manager Ryan Poles to get Garrett’s contract under the cap… If nothing else, it’s a move that would show that the Bears are all-in on winning a Super Bowl while Caleb Williams is still on his rookie contract.”

This would be a major addition to the defense, as adding a two-time Defensive Player of the Year Award would be. Garrett finished last season with an NFL record 23.0 sacks, as well as adding 33 tackles for loss and 39 quarterback hits. Chicago needs to improve on the defensive line as they were 28th in team sacks (35) last season. The Bears need that dominant force on the defensive line to add pressure. While it is unlikely this happens, it would certainly elevate both the Bears’ floor and ceiling.

This is not coming out of nowhere as other people believe Chicago is a major landing spot for Garrett. It will be intriguing to see what type of trade package Chicago would offer in a potential trade.
