Chicago Bears: Bold Predictions For Week 15 Game Vs Browns
Mike Dinovo-USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago Bears go on the road trying to keep their momentum going. They also hope to exorcise some demons. Here are some bold predictions for the game.

The Chicago Bears take to the road trying to keep their momentum going. After losing 14 straight games, they have now gone 5-4 in their last nine games. In their last four games, they won three of them.

This week, the Bears face the 8-5 Cleveland Browns. Amazingly, both teams are in the playoff hunt. However, while the Browns are currently the fifth seed in the AFC playoff picture, the Bears are on the outside looking in.

The Chicago Bears are looking to exorcise some demons in Cleveland. The last time they were there, Justin Fields made his first professional start. It was an experience that lives on in his nightmare. He went 6/20 for 68 yards. The Browns sacked him nine times.

Fields went into that game excited about what the future held for him. This week, he enters the game excited about what the future holds. While he’s taken a beating for his lack of consistency, he has shown improvement. He hopes to stay in Chicago and play with a more talented roster next season.

First, Fields wants to show the Browns how different of a player he is now. He wants to put a dent in Cleveland’s playoff situation. There are six teams with a 7-6 record so a loss this week would put them in danger of being out of the playoff scenario completely.

The Bears would love nothing more than to beat a good Browns team. They have beaten two playoff-qualifying teams, the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions. However, many people question those teams’ qualifications. Beating three straight playoff qualifiers would be a feather in their cap.

Let’s make some bold predictions for this game.

The defense harasses Flacco

The Browns have struggled to pass the ball. The reason for that is that they’ve lost several quarterbacks with injuries. Their list of quarterbacks this season includes Deshaun Watson, P.J. Walker, Dorian Thompson-Robinson, and Joe Flacco.

Flacco is the latest one to take the helm. He started the last two games for Cleveland and has split them. While he helped lead the Baltimore Ravens to a Super Bowl win, he is not the same quarterback.

Flacco will give the Chicago Bears pass rush a stationary target. This pass rush is greatly improved with the addition of defensive end Montez Sweat. His intensity and high motor helped pick up all of his teammates’ play.

Yes, the Bears took a hit with the loss of Yannick Ngakoue. While the team celebrated the great victory last week, he learned that he broke his ankle and is out for the season. It is a big blow since he leads the team in sacks.

However, this is DeMarcus Walker‘s time to shine. He can take advantage of his opportunity. Additionally, the interior of the defensive line is strong both against the run and the pass. Gervon Dexter is making more of an impact as the season progresses.

If the Bears put pressure on Flacco, he will give up turnovers. We have seen how the pressure results in big turnovers. The Bears’ defense forced 10 turnovers in their last three games. They are looking for more on Sunday.

Prediction: The Bears hold Flacco to 156 passing yards and force three turnovers, two interceptions and a fumble.

The Bears exert their dominance against the run

The Bears have had a remarkable turnaround with their run defense. Last season, they ranked 31st in rushing yards allowed and last in rushing touchdowns allowed. This season, however, they rank second in rushing yards allowed and fourth in rushing touchdowns allowed.

The Bears took a hit against the run in the first half of last week’s game. The Lions rushed for 108 yards in the first half. They gave up an average of just 60.8 yards per game in their previous eight games.

The defense tightened up in the second half, however. They held Detroit to just 32 rushing yards in the second half. It was a big reason Chicago shut out the Lions in the second half.

The Browns’ strength plays into the Bears’ defensive strength. Cleveland ranks seventh in rushing yards and 10th in rushing touchdowns. The Bears want to spend the entire game shutting down the running game.

If the Bears could shut down Cleveland’s running game, it would put a cramp on the Browns’ offense. They could then concentrate on harassing Flacco and the passing game. Then the chances of an upset rise dramatically.

Prediction: The Bears give up just 86 yards rushing,

1+2 =6

One of the most exciting aspects of this season is the connection between Fields and D.J. Moore. Their chemistry is off the charts. Even when the opposition knows what is coming they cannot stop it.

Moore averages about 98 yards per game with Fields throwing him the ball. Without him, that number goes down to just 53.

Moore will be incredibly important for Fields this week. If Fields expects to have a big game in Cleveland, Moore has to play a big part in it.

Prediction: Moore has 106 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns.

Fields treats the Browns the same way they treated him earlier

Fields has a chance to show how much different things are between 2021 and today. He suffered an incredibly embarrassing game at the hands of Cleveland. He would love nothing more than to repay the favor.

Fields also wants to show he is the man to lead this team. He wants to have a great showing as the season winds down. After making big changes this past offseason, they are in line to make even more this upcoming offseason.

Fields took a beating playing with substandard players. He surely wants a chance to play on the team when it has a lot of talent. Performing well against Cleveland will go a long way to helping him stay.

Prediction: Fields throws for 269 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also rushes for 68 yards.
