Ben Johnson and the Chicago Bears are looking to turn the franchise around during the upcoming 2025 NFL season. After an incredibly aggressive offseason, the Bears are expected to be a much more competitive football team than they have been in years.

Led by second-year quarterback Caleb Williams, the offense is loaded with talent. D.J. Moore, Rome Odunze, and Luther Burden III headline the wide receiver room, while the team brought in former Michigan standout tight end Colston Loveland with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Cole Kmet is another intriguing weapon, although he may soon be coming off the bench with Loveland in town.

That being said, it’s possible that Chicago could look to make a trade before the 2025 season.

Chicago Bears Could Consider Big $50 Million Trade Before 2025 Season

Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report has named Kmet as a potential trade asset for the Bears. Moving on from the 26-year-old tight end could make a lot of sense after the addition of Loveland.

Should Chicago make Kmet available, there would likely be plenty of interested teams. He has shown flashes of being a very capable starting tight end and still has youth on his side.

During the 2024 NFL season with the Bears, Kmet played in 17 games for Chicago. He racked up 47 receptions for 474 yards and four scores. Those aren’t huge numbers, but they aren’t shabby either.

In his 84 career games played over five seasons, Kmet has totaled 258 receptions for 2,592 yards and 19 touchdowns.

While this is not a report that the Bears are interested in trading Kmet, it’s something to keep an eye on. Chicago is very high on Loveland, which could make Kmet available for the right price.
