The Chicago Bears have been busy this offseason. Not only has the team hired a new head coach and improved the roster via the NFL Draft and free agency, but the organization has also locked up some key pieces on the team with new contracts. Earlier this offseason, Kyler Gordon and TJ Edwards received new contracts. In addition, newly-acquired OL Jonah Jackson received an extension from the Bears as well. Now, the team is locking up another important cog on the offensive line.
According to multiple insiders via his agent Mike McCartney , the Bears and OG Joe Thuney have agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension worth $17.5 million per season. The deal helps the Bears and Thuney, with the offensive lineman now set to make $51 million over the next three years with $33.5 fully guaranteed.

Thuney was acquired from the Kansas City Chiefs back in March for a 2026 fourth-round pick. With one year remaining on his current deal, GM Ryan Poles expressed his interest to extend Thuney publicly, just as he did with Kyler Gordon and TJ Edwards. Now, Thuney is in the fold for three seasons in Chicago.
Alongside the aforementioned Jackson and free-agent signing Drew Dalman, the Bears have completed overhauled their interior offensive line. The team has also boosted their depth at tackle by selecting Boston College tackle Ozzy Trapilo in the second-round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
With all the new additions up front, and another season under Darnell Wright's belt, the hogs up front should be vastly improved in 2025 and allow Caleb Williams, Ben Johnson, and the plethora of playmakers to shine in the Windy City come the 2025 regular season.
