Chicago Bears Linked To Aaron Donald In Wild Comeback Rumor For 2024 Season
Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

As the Chicago Bears prepare for the upcoming 2024 NFL season, they are receiving a ton of hype. Many believe that they will end up being a playoff team when everything is said and done. It’s been a long time since that kind of hype was so big ahead of a season.

Everything changed for the Bears when they got the No. 1 overall pick and were able to draft Caleb Williams. They have been searching for a long-term franchise quarterback for years. Now, they finally have him and they have an elite supporting cast around him.

Defensively, the Bears have quite a bit of talent but would love to add more. Could Aaron Donald be in the cards for the Chicago Bears?

Chicago Bears Linked To Aaron Donald In Wild Comeback Rumor

ESPN’s Michael Wilbon spoke out recently about Donald and made it clear that he thinks the superstar will come out of retirement and play during the 2024 season. He even suggested that he could come out of retirement to play for the Chicago Bears.

“I hear him. I believe him today, [and] I believe he believes that today. And I will bet you right now, greens fees anywhere you want to play, that Aaron Donald plays this season in the NFL. And I’m just thinking about teams that have a little money available to perhaps sign Mr. Donald. I can think of one in Chicago.”

Can you imagine the Bears being able to go out and sign Aaron Donald? That would make them even bigger contenders in the NFC.

Being able to sign Aaron Donald would complete the Chicago Bears’ defense. He would give them an elite run stopper and pass-rusher in the middle of their defensive line. There are very few defensive players that make the kind of impact that Donald makes on a game.

During the 2023 season with the Los Angeles Rams, Donald ended up compiling 53 total tackles to go along with eight sacks and three defended passes. Those numbers are great, but they are lower than what fans have come to expect from him.

It seems plausible that Donald would get the itch to play as the season continues to draw closer. If he does want to play, the Chicago Bears would be a logical landing spot.

All of that being said, this is far from being a real thing right now. Donald has not talked about a desire to return and there is no guarantee that he will. But, if he does, keep an eye out for the Bears to have major interest.
