Chicago Bears lose pass rusher for Giants game
Dominique Robinson, a McKinley High School graduate entering his third season with the Chicago Bears, gets ready to play in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game at Benson Stadium, Thursday, Aug. 1, 2024, in Canton.

The Chicago Bears need to win Sunday’s game against the New York Giants to keep pace in the NFC playoff race. Following Week 10, the schedule becomes noticeably harder.

The Bears will travel to play the Minnesota Vikings in Week 11 before then playing the Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles, and Green Bay Packers.

Chicago made one trade at the deadline on Tuesday to help the pass rush. The Bears traded with the Cleveland Browns for defensive end Joe Tryon-Shoyinka. Chicago will need the former first-round pick to step up against the Giants as the team ruled out a defensive end for Sunday.

Chicago Bears will be down Dominique Robinson

Per the Bears injury report released on Friday, Dominique Robinson will miss the second week in a row with an ankle injury. Cornerback Josh Blackwell is out with a concussion. Linebacker T.J. Edwards will miss Sunday with a broken hand and hamstring issue.

Chicago has recorded 17 sacks in its first eight games, averaging just over two sacks per game. With Dayo Oedayingbo out for the season with a torn Achilles, the Bears will need second-year defensive end Austin Booker and Tryon-Shoyinka to get after rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart on Sunday.

Fortunately, the injury report has good news for the offense coming off a 47-42 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 9. No offensive players were ruled out.

Running back D’Andre Swift was ruled questionable to play the Giants after missing last week with a groin injury.

The Bears have no excuses to lose to a 2-7 Giants team, even with injuries on the defensive side of the ball.
