The Chicago Bears have won back-to-back games and are 5-2 for the season. They made an off-field announcement on Wednesday, with the help of team legend Jerry Azumah.

Chicago defeated the New England Patriots 30-24 last Thursday. It came just four days after their Week 6 win over the Atlanta Falcons. Caleb Williams returned from a three-game absence and showed no signs of being hampered by his hamstring injury. The star quarterback sustained it in Week 2 versus the Minnesota Vikings,

Azumah, on the other hand, played seven seasons for the the Bears. The cornerback was a fifth-round pick in 1999 but went on to become a star. He earned a Pro Bowl nod and was selected as a second-Team All-Pro member in 2003.

Bears announce winner of team award

Azumah surprised Ms. Khan, a third-grade teacher at Thomas Edison Elementary, with the Bears’ CDW Classroom Legends award. He handed him an oversized check for $1,000, a football and a team uniform with her last name on it.

The award’s goal is to recognize exceptional educators in Chicago. Bears employees screened Ms. Khan’s nomination through their website. They launched it in 2010 to place the spotlight on educators for their important role in helping young people learn, grow and succeed. The team also invites winners to Soldier Field to watch the game live and honors them on the videoboard.

It’s unclear when Ms. Khan will be in attendance at Chicago’s home venue. However, it could be as early in Week 9 when the Bears host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. A bye week follows before they face the New Orleans Saints also at Soldier Field. The team is looking to surpass its 2025 achievements, winning the NFC North with an 11-6 record and reaching the Divisional Round.
