Chicago Bears cornerback Nahshon Wright had, by far, the best season of his career in 2025. A third round pick by the Dallas Cowboys in 2021, Wright did not live up to his status as a top-100 pick for many years. He lasted just three seasons in Dallas before being traded to the Minnesota Vikings. He only played one game for the Vikings, though in 2024.
After being released by Minnesota on April 7, the Bears signed him the very next day. It ended up being one of the best decisions of the off-season.
In Dennis Allen’s system, Wright made his first career Pro Bowl while playing all 17 games for the first time in his career.
In 2025, Wright had five interceptions that he returned for a combined 118 yards. Up until this past season, he had just one career interception. He also had 11 pass breakups playing in Allen’s scheme, more than doubling his career total.
What is more, opposing quarterbacks had an 86.8 passer rating when targeting him, which was much improved from his 2023 season when they had a 109.7 passer rating.
And while he is sure to get a nice pay raise in free agency, NFL.com seems to think he would be better suited staying in Chicago:
“A veteran of the show ‘Last Chance U,’ Wright turned his career around with a breakout ballhawking season in Chicago. While that will be tough to repeat, he fits Dennis Allen’s defense incredibly well.”
Wright was ranked 55th of their list of the top 101 NFL free agents.
As one can see, they went out of their way to note how well he fits in Allen’s system with the Bears. Leaving Chicago may result in a dip in production for him.
