The Chicago Bears‘ defense could be about to get one of its playmakers back on the field.

Wednesday, the Bears announced that the team is opening cornerback Kyler Gordon‘s 21-day practice window to potentially return from injured reserve.

Gordon is now cleared to be back on the field and fully participate in practice with his teammates, and the Bears have 21 days to determine whether he is healthy enough and ready enough to return to the 53-man roster. If he is, Gordon will be activated, but if not, he’ll revert back to the season-ending reserve, ending his 2025 campaign.

The 25-year-old Gordon has not played since suffering groin and calf injuries that put him on the shelf for Chicago’s last four games.

Before getting injured, Gordon had produced six total tackles with one sack, and got into the act for a defense that is leading the league in turnover differential by recovering one fumble, in the two games that he’s played, so far.

Originally chosen by the Bears with the No. 39 overall pick in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Gordon has become one of Chicago’s top defensive backs, logging 213 total tackles with 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, and five interceptions through his first 44 career games.
