The Chicago Bears are riding high this weekend after taking down the defending Super Bowl champs on Friday.
The Bears proved they’re a legitimate threat in the NFC North and conference after beating the Philadelphia Eagles 24-15 on the road.
Chicago did so in an impressive manner, showing physical resolve while running for nearly 300 yards on Philadelphia defensive coordinator Vic Fangio’s defense.
With the win, the Bears climbed to 9-3. Chicago is in first in the NFC North before getting set to travel to play the 8-3-1 Green Bay Packers in Week 14. The winner of that contest will take the lead in the division.
However, Chicago’s outlook changed on Sunday. The Bears entered Sunday with the second-best record in the NFC behind the Los Angeles Rams. Fortunately for Chicago, the Carolina Panthers upset the Rams 31-28, which catapulted the Bears above Los Angeles.

On Friday, Bears head coach Ben Johnson suggested the team would celebrate the win over the Eagles before getting to work against the Packers.
“These guys should feel pretty good about what they just did,” Johnson said. “It’s hard to go on the road and beat a good team like that, and yet, I think they still know we have got to get back to work next week, you know? And so we were very pleased with where we’re at.
“We’ll be able to enjoy it for a couple days, and then we’ll be right back to work and on to the next one, because that’s where we’re at in the season. But really happy with how this one went today.”
Unlike last season, the Bears have plenty to play for in December. While it’s not the playoffs, Chicago needs to treat the upcoming schedule like the postseason. Every game counts for seeding.
As of Sunday, the Bears are in position to have home-field advantage for the playoffs.
