Chicago Bears QB Caleb Williams’ shocking NFL offseason admission
Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams (18) looks on during warmups prior to the game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Caleb Williams had a great year for the Chicago Bears this 2025 NFL season. He already holds the Bears’ record for most passing yards in a season with 3,942 yards. The second-year quarterback was a big factor for the Chicago squad that won its first NFC North title since 2018.

Williams’ rookie year was impressive as well. He finished with 20 touchdowns with 3,541 passing yards. He also holds the Bears record for the first rookie quarterback with multiple games of 300+ passing yards. Despite his solid rookie year, Chicago still finished with a 5-12 record. This caused multiple sports analysts to blast the 2024 NFL first overall pick.

Caleb Williams gets ready for his third NFL season with the Chicago Bears

The former Heisman Trophy winner proved the doubters wrong as he came out blazing for his sophomore year. Williams led the Bears to an 11-6 record in 2025, their best record since 2018. He had a franchise record 562 passing attempts with 351 completions, gaining 3,942 yards and scoring 27 touchdowns.

Despite a record-breaking season for Williams, the Bears fell to the Los Angeles Rams in the divisional playoffs. In the 2025 NFL postseason, Williams gained 618 passing yards in 47 completions. He scored four touchdowns but had five interceptions.

As he’s getting ready for his third NFL season, the 2022 AP College Football Player of the Year shares his routine.

The former USC Trojan now focuses on the offseason as he looks to surpass his impressive 2025 season. Williams joined “The Rush” Podcast with Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby. There, he talks about his preparation for the next season and even his diet that keeps him in tip-top shape.

“So I’m pretty regimented throughout the year, for about 10 months out of the year,” Williams said. “I give myself two months out of the offseason to be able to just chill, relax.”

“It’s hard for me to fully get away,” he added. “I do yoga, I do small things, and play other sports and things like that to stay active, to stay moving.”

Williams then admits that he is no stranger to indulging himself with unhealthy food every once in a while.

“I take two weeks of really unhealthy eating,” Williams shared. “I eat whatever I want.”

He was then asked what his go-to cheat meal is.

“Whatever, like fries, donut, ice cream, I’ll do it all,” he laughingly admitted.

It’s quite shocking to hear Williams’ unhealthy obsession. Then again, he did say that he limits his no-holds-barred diet to just two weeks during the NFL offseason. Taking that into perspective, those two weeks are just a very small fraction of the rest of the year when Williams makes sure to eat healthy and keep his body in top shape.

It just shows that even the top athletes take a break and indulge themselves in whatever they like. But they make sure to stay ready, especially when it’s time to be back on the field.
