Chicago Bears Quarterback Caleb Williams had a dream game tonight at home against the Buffalo Bills. He went 5-of-6 for 97 yards with a passing touchdown on the opening drive. The quarterback came out for a second drive and, unsurprisingly, did not look as sharp. He finished his night 6-of-10 for 106 yards and a touchdown through the air. He looked decisive in the pocket this evening. Overall, it was a very successful evening for the star quarterback.
This has not been a smooth training camp for the Chicago Bears. Head Coach Ben Johnson has mentioned on multiple occasions how Williams has struggled to grasp his intricate system. Clips posted on social media also showed a team that had a great deal of work to do to reach its full potential. Many of those concerns were put to bed after one drive by Williams and the team’s offense. Will this translate to the regular season when the games begin to count?
Expectations will be sky high in “The Windy City” in 2025. Much of that optimism has to do with the tandem of Williams and Johnson helping the team succeed. The young quarterback will have some talented weapons at his disposal this season.
The skill position players include Running Back D’Andre Swift, Wide Receiver DJ Moore, Wide Receiver Rome Odunze, and Tight End Cole Kmet. Chicago also drafted Wide Receiver Luther Burden III with the No. 39 overall pick in April’s NFL Draft. The Bears will go as far as their offense takes them.
The Bears close out the preseason on Friday on the road against the Kansas City Chiefs. Even though the game will not count in the standings, it will allow the Bears to see where they stand against the class of the league. Chicago’s regular season begins at home on September 8 against the Minnesota Vikings. If Williams looks like he did tonight during the regular season, he will be viewed as a savior in the city of Chicago.
