The Chicago Bears are getting set to play a got-to-have it game against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
The 9-4 Bears are No. 7 in the NFC, and the Browns are the easiest game remaining on the schedule before they finish the season against two NFC North rivals, Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions, and the San Francisco 49ers.
With temperatures expected to be nearly 10 degrees (with a wind chill of minus-10) for the contest, the Bears might not be utilizing the passing game too much on Sunday, however the status of wide receiver Rome Odunze is a big deal for Sunday.
Odunze missed the Bears’ 28-21 loss to the Packers in Week 14 with a foot injury. He was a limited participant in practice on Friday and was listed as questionable to play on the final injury report.
Per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Bears are hopeful Odunze will play on Sunday.
“The Chicago Bears are optimistic wide receiver Rome Odunze will play against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, sources told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.”
Odunze is the Bears leading receiver with 44 receptions for 661 yards and 6 touchdowns.
The key for Chicago should be their strong rushing attack, which boosted the team to a five-game winning streak before Week 14, including a 281 yard rushing performance against the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles on Black Friday.
While the Bears need to lean on the run game, quarterback Caleb Williams has made it clear he needs to get in rhythm early in games. Chicago head coach Ben Johnson wants Williams to find his stride before the playoffs,
If Odunze plays, look for Johnson to try and dial up some easy throws between Williams and Odunze against a shorthanded Browns secondary.
