The Chicago Bears have reportedly requested an interview with a Green Bay Packers assistant. The move came one day after the Packers lost 22-10 to the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field in the wild card round.

The Bears expected to meet an assistant coach with all three of their NFL North rivals. Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn and offensive coordinator Ben Johnson met with Chicago last week. The team is expected to meet with Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores this week.

The Chicago Bears want to interview Adam Stenavich

Per ESPN ‘s Adam Schefter, the Bears requested an interview with Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich.

“An in-division request: Bears requested a head coach interview with Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich, per source,” Schefter posted on X.

Stenavich is an odd choice for the Bears to want to interview unless they’re on a fact-finding mission. Frankly, recent Packers offensive coordinators have been dreadful outside of Matt LaFleur’s system. Former Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy is looking for his third job in as many seasons. Nathaniel Hackett will be looking for his third job in four seasons.

Stenavich played college football as a left tackle for Michigan before joining the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2006. He played with the Carolina Panthers, Packers, Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans.

A curious choice for the Bears to interview

Stenavich started his coaching career with Michigan as a strength and conditioning intern in 2011. His first stint in the league came in 2017 as an assistant offensive line coach for the San Francisco 49ers. The native of Marshfield, Wisconsin, joined the Packers as an offensive line coach in 2019, earning the promotion to offensive coordinator in 2022 when Getsy left for the Bears.

Green Bay’s offense averaged the fifth-most yards per game (370.8) and eighth-most points per game (27.1) in 2024. However, much of that success can be attributed to LaFleur, who calls the plays.
