The Chicago Bears had some good news on the injury front this week when they opened the 21-practice window for defensive end Austin Booker and running back Travis Homer. The Bears need Booker back as soon as possible to help with a pass rush that has been inconsistent to start the season.
However, Chicago had one player injured before the bye in Week 4 that might not be healthy enough to play on “Monday Night Football” against the Washington Commanders. Santos suffered a quad injury in the Bears’ 25-24 win over the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 4.
Per Zack Pearson of Bear Report, Bears head coach Ben Johnson said on Wednesday that Santos is “ day-to-day” with the injury.
“Yeah, we will see as we go through the week as to how he’s feeling and looking,” Johnson said.

Johnson’s answer on Wednesday isn’t promising for Santo’s availability to play the Commanders. Santos has made six of his seven field goal attempts and all of his 11 extra point attempts this season.
If Sanots cannot play Washington, the Bears can elevate former San Francisco 49ers kicker Jake Moody from the practice squad. The former third-round pick was signed to the practice squad in September and is looking for a chance to resurrect his NFL career.
Moody recently told Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times that he’s learning to have fun playing football with the Bears after dealing with serious pressure at the end of his tenure in San Francisco.
“Getting cut puts everything into perspective — what’s important in life, what’s not important,” Moody said. “You think it’s the end of the world. … We’re just playing football. Realizing that and being able to have fun with it while I’m doing it.”
