During the NFL Scouting Combine last week, news came out that the Chicago Bears were open to trading several players this offseason as they work to get under the cap before the start of the league new year.
Wide receiver DJ Moore, linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, quarterback Tyson Bagent and defensive tackle Gervon Dexter were all brought up as players that could be traded this offseason.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that teams called Chicago about Dexter.
“Sources: Teams have inquired with the Bears about trading for DT Gervon Dexter, as the free-agent DT market and draft class are not deep,” Schultz posted on X. “The 24-year-old started all 17 games last season and has 13.5 career sacks and 42 QB hits. He is entering the final year of his rookie contract.”
During an appearance on 670 The Score on Monday, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune disputed Schultz’s report. He didn’t call out Schultz by name and didn’t want to speculate on his work, but Biggs said he could report that nothing is happening on a trade front to ship out Dexter.
“They’re not taking (trade) calls on him,” Biggs said. “They’re not making calls on him … I’m reporting nothing is happening on that. “They’ve got two defensive tackles under contract. They’re not looking to move one.”
.@BradBiggs on how the Bears view Gervon Dexter Sr.: "They're not taking (trade) calls on him. They're not making calls on him … I'm reporting nothing is happening on that.

Dexter recorded 21 total tackles and a career-high six sacks in 2025. The 2023 second-round pick has become a key part of the interior defensive line rotation.
Frankly, it makes no sense for the Bears to trade Dexter given their need for defensive line help at all positions. He was one of their better players on the defensive line last season.
