The Chicago Bears aggressively aimed to rebuild the offensive line via free agency and the trade market last spring, but general manager Ryan Poles’ overhaul may be far from finished.
Even after acquiring All-Pro Joe Thuney, and veteran interior linemen Jonah Jackson and Drew Dalman, the Bears could look to continue building up the offensive line in front of Caleb Williams next spring, regardless of whether Chicago makes a run into the postseason, or not.
CBS Sports NFL analyst Mike Renner released his first 2026 NFL Mock Draft, linking the Bears to Alabama offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor, with the No. 25 overall pick in next spring’s draft.
“Proctor is likely to end up as a guard at the next level,” Renner writes of the Alabama standout. “But Ben Johnson’s offense is one where he could still play tackle. That’s because it’s so predicated on the run game, where Proctor is an easy people mover.”
The Bears’ commitment to a violent downhill running game built around D’Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai, combined with a desire to keep Williams upright and Johnson’s system aiming to replicate the physical style the Lions implemented during his time in Detroit could put Proctor on Chicago’s radar.
Proctor, 6-foot-7 and 366 pounds, is one of the highest-graded offensive tackles in college football this season, garnering an elite 80.8 overall grade from Pro Football Focus, as the outlet’s 12th-ranked player at the position.
According to PFF, Proctor has allowed only one sack and 13 pressures in 282 pass blocking snaps for the Crimson Tide this season.
If Proctor’s dominant level of consistency translates to the next level, he could be the kind of player who anchors the Bears’ offensive line for years to come.
